Hello!

I've started this blog in the hopes of inspiring my fellow school library media specialists. So many media centers around the country are hurting - whether it is losing funding, losing paraprofessionals or even the threat of losing your media specialist position. Hence, the library doctor theme! I've been able to transform my K-5 media center into a much happier and healthier place and you can too - with the right prescriptions.

I'll be offering several different types of prescriptions on this blog:
  • Advocacy opportunities
  • Children's books that I love
  • Inspirations from other librarians and classroom teachers
  • Lessons that I've tried in my own media center or in collaboration with classroom teachers
  • PR tricks and tips
  • Technologies that I discover (or rediscovered)
Of course, I'm sure I'll come up with something else along the way! I'm in the midst of preparing to present at the Georgia Children's Literature Conference (Get details here: http://gcba.coe.uga.edu/conference/2014-conference-information/) and also mentoring a media specialist new to my school district.

Add a comment and let me know if you have any questions or anything you'd like me to address. In the meantime, check out my Pinterest page, follow me on Twitter, or like me on Facebook!

Wishing you health and happiness!
